もし音から電気を起こせたら?

今日、私たちはパソコンやスマートフォンなど、たくさんの電気機器に囲まれて住んでいます。これらの機器は非常に便利である一方、常に電気を消費しており、一人当たりのエネルギー消費量は過去30年間で2倍になりました。より環境に優しい資源から電気を生成するためのより良い方法を模索する必要に迫られています。

そこで、私たちは空気中の音波を集めて電気に変換する技術を応用し、この問題を解決に取り組みます。例えばスピーカーは電気を使って音を生み出していますが、このプロセスを逆向きに辿れば、振動を電力に変換することができます。

「hummingbird(ハチドリ)」の名前の由来は、くちばしに一滴の水を炎に運ぶハチドリの寓話に触発されています。この話は一度に小さな変化しか生み出せない場合も、できる限りのことをすべて試し続けることの重要性を示しています。私たちの挑戦は始まったばかりであり、最初はハチドリの一雫のように小さいかもしれません。ですが、あなたの応援で私たちのプロダクトは世界を変えられるかもしれません。

The Technology

「音」で発電するしくみ

音波(空気振動)をレシーバーで受け取り、共振器で振動を増幅したのち、電気的なエネルギーに変換します。

コイルを周期的に前後に動かすことで、磁石とコイルの間で電圧が発生します(電磁誘導)。

一方、スピーカーは、外から電圧をかけることで、コイルを振動させて音を出しているので、逆向きのメカニズムと言えます。
